Toontrack announces EZX expansion packs for dfh EZdrummer
In september Toontrack Music will release the first three, expansion packs, EZX:s, for dfh EZdrummer. The EZX:s have been picked to cover a broad range of user needs and requests in the wake of the release of EZdrummer. At this moment Toontrack is also negotiating the productions of an all new batch of EZX:s planned for the end of the year or the beginning of next. These will feature specific genres, artists or instrument groups.
The first three EZX:s due for release in September, are as follows,
Latin Percussion EZX
The Latin Percussion EZX for EZdrummer contains the percussion sounds from the revolutionary, award winning pro drum sampler, dfh Superior from Toontrack Music. The sounds have been mixed further at Toontrack Studios and the EZX includes midifiles that will add that extra groove on top of your steady drumtrack.
Drumkit From Hell EZX
Drumkit From Hell aka DFH, originally came about to address our own needs for better and more natural drums for the production work we were doing and decided to record and release a library of our own with the best musicians and producers available to us, our good friends
Tomas Haake and Fredrik Thordendal from Meshuggah and Daniel Bergstrand from Dug-Out studios. Little did we know what we had started. Drumkit From Hell was awarded 5 of 5 in Sound on Sound and an EQ Magazine Exceptional Quality award and launched Toontrack
Music and the DFH brand in a major way into the sample business enabling the development the Superior and EZ drum samplers.
To celebrate and signify the importance for us of Drumkit From Hell we´ve decided to re-release it as an EZX expansion pack for EZdrummer. The DFH EZX contains the essence of what Toontrack is originally all about. The commitment to excellence through collaboration with the
best players and producers aimed at helping you to make better, more inspired music. This version of DFH includes both the original DFH release and the Add-On pack that was released subsequently. All sounds have been re-mixed and we´ve added custom midifiles from the
diabolically gifted musician and guitar player of Meshuggah, Fredrik Thordendal plus midi played by one of the other great Metal Drummers we know, Ove Lingvall from Nocturnal Rites.
Metal at its best.
Vintage Brushes and Sticks EZX
The Vintage Brushes and Sticks EZX contains one of the kits from the soon to be released Superior Vintage Add-on, the Ludwig Keystone Drum Set.
The Ludwig Drum Company had little idea what was about to hit them in the months following February 9th 1964, The Beatles debut U.S. Television appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. The band were a sensation and almost overnight everyone wanted to own a set of Ludwig drums just like Ringos. In fact, Ludwig were still struggling to keep up with demand when along came another drumming icon John Bonham. As well as his use of the Supraphonic snare drum, Bonham popularised larger sizes, including the 24″ bass drum similar to the one sampled for
the Vintage Brushes and Sticks EZX. This 60s era Ludwig set belongs to 2khz Studio owner Nick Yeatman and we were very happy he lent it to us so we could capture that phat and funky Ludwig sound. The Ludwig Keystone Kit has been mixed by producer Peter Henderson and Mattias Eklund from Toontrack Music and with it we´ve added the classic Ludwig Black Beauty and a Slingerland Radio King snares, a number of cool complimentary cymbals and topped it all up with customized midi for both sticks and brushes.
