Thanks to a Twitter leak, Skype fans are getting their first look at what their favorite VoIP chat service will look like when Windows 8 arrives in late October — and we could use a bit of this flair on the Mac client!
The Verge is reporting that a screenshot of Skype for Windows 8 has leaked out, courtesy of Twitter and initially spotted by Neowin. Despite being clearly marked as an “App Preview” at the top, the app shows off the style formerly known as Metro and frankly, makes us long for something this slick on the Mac.
The report is unclear whether the “App Preview” designation indicates that Microsoft may be offering a public preview soon, but given how many Redmond is already doing, we wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they did. However, the app could just as easily be an internal beta that’s not quite ready for primetime.
Microsoft had “nothing to share at this time” when asked about the leak, but with the clock ticking on the release of Windows 8, you can bet you’ll be hearing (and seeing) more about this version of Skype in the next month or two.
