Toontrack’s Metal Month is back

– Seven new products and exclusive live shows by Meshuggah and Periphery

Umeå, Sweden, October 19, 2012 – Swedish software company and drum sampler pioneers Toontrack Music today announced that their annual Metal Month campaign will be launched again this November and that late in October the company will host a kick off party featuring exclusive live shows by Meshuggah and Periphery. The month is primarily geared towards customers into hard rock and metal. Earlier editions of the campaign have seen several critically acclaimed product releases and been met by massive support from the Toontrack user base.
- Our connection to metal can be traced all the way back to the start in 1999 when we released Drumkit From Hell. It was a huge hit that set a new benchmark for the drum sampling industry. To devote an entire month solely to metal is our way of honoring and highlighting the genre on which our company built its foundation, said Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s co-founder and Head of Sound Design.
- Even if we today have a product catalogue and credibility that crosses over all genres, our brand is still very much associated to metal, continued Peter Knutsson, Toontrack’s CEO. Metal musicians are generally very well-aware and picky when it comes to sound and production, so having a strong following in this market segment is something we are proud of and want to keep nourishing.

The Metal Month campaign site is set for launch on November 1 and the first product release slated for November 6. Already on October 26, however, Toontrack will host a kick off party at the intimate live music venue Scharinska near the company’s headquarters in Umeå, Sweden. Swedish polyrhythmic and ”Djent” inventors Meshuggah will perform alongside American up and coming metal act Periphery, both of which are booked to perform one-off shows exclusively at this event.
- To have two of the most talked about names in today’s extreme metal scene share the stage at a small venue in the north of Sweden for two unique shows feels really special, said Peter Knutsson, Toontrack’s CEO. To add to it, the fact that our sounds can be heard on both bands’ albums and that our product catalogue feature individual members of each band just makes it even better.

None of the seven products slated for release during November are yet official. Each week of the month will reveal one or more new products.
- I can honestly say that this year we have a few of the most unique releases ever, said Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s co-founder and Head of Sound Design. About Charles
Legendary for his role in the birth of the electronic music scene in the Baltimore/Washington DC area, Charles has built a reputation as a DJ in the international dance community and is constantly in demand for his ability to light up dance floors across the globe.
 
Cultivating a fascination with music since childhood, Charles grew up listening to Motown, disco and funk, genres that heavily influenced his personal style as an artist. An integral part of the Baltimore/DC scene, Charles is often credited with helping put the scene on the house music map. In 1992 he joined forces with fellow DJ Scott Henry to launch Fever, a club event that introduced the sounds of electronic music to his hometown. The first event of its kind in that region, the night exploded in popularity almost immediately, attracting upwards of 2,500 people. Featuring such top-notch, internationally renowned talent as Paul Van Dyk, Derrick Carter and Carl Cox, the biweekly event ran through May 2001.
 
Maintaining a seven-year residency at Fever helped springboard Feelgood’s danceable brand of bangin’ hard house to widespread exposure across the East Coast. His popularity quickly bloomed thanks in part to his legendary series of mixed tapes “Time to Get Real”. He soon developed a club-heavy touring schedule that regularly took him to famed clubs such as Avaland Boston, Sound Factory NYC and Cro Bar along with numerous other venues on US East Coast, in Europe, Asia and South America.
 
Charles has also been keeping busy in the studio, with several releases making it in the top 100 Chart on Beatport and top 10 on several other digital music sites. Charles recently signed with the mega EDM label Ultra and his first release of many to come is “Hands” featuring Russell Taylor.
 
Constantly in demand all over the world for his ability to light up dance floors with his sets of electro and tech drenched house, Feelgood has received numerous accolades in his fifteen-year career. These include being named Baltimore’s Best DJ as well as being included in DJ magazine’s top 100 DJ’s several years running.
 
The consummated dance floor rocker, Feelgood sums up his musical mission in one sentence: “I just want to do what the name implies, to make people have a good time and go home with a great feeling”.
